About Tailored Tan
Founded by Sophie Halus in Costa Rica, Tailored Tan is rooted in a lifelong connection to the ocean and a love for personal expression. Sophie spent her early years growing up on the beaches of Costa Rica, where her appreciation for sun, surf, and effortless style first took shape.
After playing lacrosse at the University of Maryland, Sophie felt called back to the place that always felt like home. With a vision to create something meaningful, she returned to Santa Teresa to bring Tailored Tan to life—a custom swimwear brand built around individuality, confidence, and community.
At Tailored Tan, it’s more than just bikinis. It’s an experience. Clients are invited into the studio to design their own pieces from scratch, choosing cuts, fabrics, and details that reflect their personal style. The studio is designed to feel like a gathering place—where creativity flows, connections are made, and everyone leaves with something uniquely their own.
